As long as paying for sex is seen as socially acceptable, and DEMAND continues to grow, people will continue to be trafficked. Huge profits will continue to be made by the traffickers. People will continue to be exploited and abused. Lives will continue to be shattered.
Goods are produced and supplied because there is a DEMAND for them. When DEMAND is high, business flourishes. Human Trafficking for sexual exploitation is no exception and it is very big business. Women, children and men are ‘supplied’ and exploited as a direct result of the DEMAND for their services. There are many factors that make some people more vulnerable to being trafficked, but the bottom line is still that if no-one DEMANDED these services there would be no need to ‘supply’ them.
